welcome to my little world

LOOK WHAT I CAN DO

see ya later, fickle unpredictable March.

march is ending.
my mother used to say ''mylord Where did this month go?'' every month!
of course I knew what she meant, but its funny that now I say it EVERY MONTH.
I like the 72 seasons, Japan's ancient calendar, which has different seasons about every 5 days.
I like all the seasons that happen here in the midwest.
I am looking so  forward to being immersed in my gardens again.
I am looking forward to testing new ideas taking root and growing.

NIGHT THOUGHTS IN THE WIND

last night

the sound of the extreme wind woke me and I listened for a while.
It was not unpleasant...but also a bit concerning, there are so many 100+ years old trees close to this old house.
My thoughts swirl and seem to blow around in my head like the wind. non stop.
I'm sad...so very sad  for what we are doing as a country. it's so difficult to wrap my head around this level of cruelty and ignorance in leadership.  I'm not a negative person (thinker) generally, but it is becoming a challenge to see positives anymore.          I wonder what it's all about.

Barnwords is busy.
Busy feels good.
Energy is shifting and I am enjoying that.
February brought a few gifts...for one-a wonderful celebration of LOVE in Detroit. It felt good to witness kind and real love.
Seeing happiness. Laughing with family. I miss those kids.

I am continuing the daily search for bits of joy in this ridiculously totally fucked country/world
making things. observing things. seeing things!
The more you look, The more you see.
That is the theme of my most recent layered artworks.

definition: a mixed bag

so... what kind of artist are you?
How to define my art.
Am I a painter, a sketcher, a collage maker, a gardener, a poet?
Am I an observant watcher of nature, a document-keeper, a writer, an experimenter?
Am I a friend, a sender and lover of mail art and music, an outsider,  a life long learner?
I am all of these things. I am a mixed bag.
I am always inspired by nature, what I call the imperfect nature of
Perfect Nature.
I am inspired by many other creative makers in the world.
I am always interested.

'HELLO dear readers...
It's January. The Fresh clean slate of January.
After a few weeks of stagnant and unproductive art making... I am inspired and hopeful.
It's funny how that works. funny the way it is.
Really thinking so much about our world and how horrible some humans can be. I mean it's  impossible to NOT be affected. :(
Priceless. That is what we have lost.
Poor world. Poor plants and Poor animals. Poor (poor) people. Poor  nice loving kind ones.
but also... there are such good and beautiful moments as well. :)

In Barnwords Biz:  Ive been focused on my ORIGINAL ART CARDS and my REMOVABLE ART cards for shows and whatnot. I love them... I love sending random mail to friends and I love this idea of original art, (affordable original art!)  and I would love to see this take OFF.
 Pix below.
The art can be framed, saved, given away... AND the joy of getting card in the mail is just.... well.... it's priceless.

I saw the Springsteen movie called 'Deliver me from Nowhere'.   I saw it  twice.  I may see it again before it leaves....
I like seeing a movie that i enjoy a second time in the cinema.
I feel like I see many little details I didn't notice first time around.
This movie is OUTSTANDING in my opinion... absolutely outstanding. The acting and the portrayal of the creative process and dealing with depression is so well done.

Then there is the music.   See it in the theater if you can.
 It's brilliant.

Here are a few Grassy Original Art cards available...just $8. a piece right now.
Send to a friend!   These are so good in person, (I need a better photo taking device).

They are made with oil pastels and pencil.  I love the textures and colors this combination makes! Never will there be 2 identical cards, so if you love one... buy it today.
These would be great cards for anyone but especially you serious plant lovers.
Pass it on.

on the walls. on the shelf. tucked in a corner. hung from a ceiling. on the porch. mailed in the post. in the garden! in a frame. not in a frame. nailed up. sun faded. water marked. old and slightly disheveled. worth nothing. worth a million dollars.(who even decides what art is worth a million dollars??)  If you are moved by a work of art, either your own or someone else's...put it up and live with it. you will have delight and joy.

Hello friends.
Lots of change happening here, the Autumn season is upon us.
I won't dwell on the myriad ways this affects me, because I've really come to enjoy this season in my later years!  For one (big) thing-the light is like no other season!
This whole summer in my  garden has been a JOY.  I've never seen so many lovely busy insects ever in my yard before... truly an incredible experience and I am super grateful.
Also I'm obsessed with bark lately.
I finished a painting called BARK made  on an old Jessi canvas I found upstairs.
I love how it turned out and I loved the process. I think I am embarking on a series of bark  artworks... silly pun intended. The bottom pic was edited with a B & W filter and I LOVE that it totaly looks like bark.
Have a look:
